DesktopMirror for Google and Palm Desktop may synchronize all the matchable fields in the synchronization between Google Contacts and Palm Desktop Contacts.
You may check out the synchronized fields page for more information.
However, both Google Contact and Palm Desktop Contact have some application specific fields that don't have matches between them and
couldn't be synchronized directly. If you still want to keep them in the synchronization, you may use the custom fields mapping
feature in DesktopMirror.
As you know, you may add user defined fields in the Google Contact, and Palm Desktop Contact has custom fields. You may use these
fields to store the application specific fields. For example, use Google Contact custom field to store the "Anniversary" field
in the Palm Desktop Contact. Or use Palm Desktop custom field to store the P.O.Box and neighborhood information in Google Contact.
If the custom field mapping is not set. The Palm Desktop Contact custom fields will be synchronized with Google Contact custom fields. And it is
the default option.
How to start using this feature in DesktopMirror
There are two ways to start using Contact custom field mapping feature:
- From the program menu: [Tools] -> [Custom Field Mapping]

- In the Contact synchronization sheet, there is a button which caption is "Field Mapping", you may simply click it to start doing custom field mapping.

How to use Custom Field Mapping feature
When you start custom field mapping, a dialog box will pop up to let you specify the custom field mapping settings:

There are two sheets in the dialog box:
- In the first sheet, you may specify which Google Contact fields to be copied to Palm Desktop custom fields in the synchronization.
- In the second sheet, you may specify which Palm Desktop Contact fields to be copied to Google Contact custom fields in the synchronization. And you
may also customize the label information in the Google Contact custom field there.
